Info

I-AM’s website was starting to feel dated and no longer reflected the agency’s digital work. The aim was to create something more modern while still keeping the personality that made it feel like I-AM.

The Shift

The previous site was much more static, with a more traditional layout and navigation. The new design puts more focus on imagery, movement and interaction, making the site feel more in line with I-AM’s personality and the work the agency produces today.

Behind the scenes

Shaping the Look

The company wanted the new site live quickly, and with senior leadership and several stakeholders involved, there were a lot of opinions to balance. I took the lead on the visual research, exploring a few different directions before we landed on one that brought the site up to date without losing I-AM’s personality.

Putting the Site Together

Once we had the look of the homepage in place, I carried it through the rest of the site, designing each page around its content while keeping the overall style consistent. I also built the components in Figma and briefed other designers on how the layouts should work across breakpoints beyond desktop and mobile.

Bringing the Site to Life

I was part of briefing the illustrator who created the site's illustrations, and made sure all materials were properly prepared for the website. I created most of the site's moving image content, bringing out each project's own personality through animation, and also animated some of the illustrator's artwork on the About page.

Working with Development

I worked directly with the developer to bring the site to life, briefing him on the designs and checking his builds against what we'd designed to make sure everything was accurate. When something didn't translate well from Figma to code, we'd troubleshoot together, and where a solution wasn't working, I'd come up with an alternative that still fit the design intent. I also tried to make things easier from our side, keeping files and specs clear so his side of the work could move smoothly too.
